Summer Recommendations!

This post is slightly overdue as we’ve already entered into summer! But, as usual I want to recommend some shows that are good for watching during these summer days. Many of us are out of school and university, and have some extra time to kill, while some are working. Personally, I’m both (: Still, I plan on taking lots of time to catch up on anime I’ve wanted to watch for a long time.

On this list I’m recommending shows that are well suited for a holiday, both short one-cour ones along with some longer ones that require more time to finish. For those of you who read my blog way back when (before it was lost and I had to restart), might recognise some of the shows from last year’s list, but there will be new additions!

Turning tsundere made me understand them.

Edit: I wrote this like a year ago, and it was supposed to go along with my OreImo review at the time. That review is long gone now, but I figured I could still make something out of my tsundere notes.

I’ve never been into tsundere characters. I’ve never understood the appeal of them. I know people, both online and in real life who adore them. But after watching OreImo, I just couldn’t relate. There’s nothing cute about this violent little girl with a bad mouth.

Spring Anime 2015: First Impressions

This post is way overdue, I know, but amidst lying in bed worrying about my one exam coming up and bingeing on unhealthy snacks to cope with the stress, anime hasn’t been prioritised. I’m pleasantly surprised by my spring picks though, and finally it looks like we’re getting some decent content. Here are my first impressions.

Winter Season 2015 Review

holiday-divider-transparent

Not many of the Winter titles interested me, so I’ve gone back and watched older shows in the past few months. But among the few that I did decide to try out, there were some crap ones and some clearly worth my time. Let’s begin.

Spring 2015 Hype

The new spring season is almost upon us and I know I’ll be busy watching all the new titles coming out. It’s been a while since I’ve been this interested in so many anime, and quite frankly I’m scared I won’t have time for them all. As usual I’m using Anichart to see what’s coming. This is going to be a fairly short post simply mentioning the anime I’m interested in. The real impression post will come once I have actually watched them.

Characters in Guilty Crown are actually people

Screen Shot 2015-02-02 at 12.31.50

Please note that I haven’t finished watching Guilty Crown, and would appreciate it if spoilers beyond the halfway point were left out of this discussion. I will probably write another post on Guilty Crown once I do complete it.

Maybe I’m late to the party; 4 years late to be exact, but I’d still like to discuss Ouma Shu. I’ve been watching Guilty Crown (it’s taking me longer than I’d admit), and last night one specific episode resonated with me on a very emotional level. No, I didn’t cry, but for the first time I felt like I understood main character Shu, and the show. While the anime itself is within the action/sci-fi genre, I found certain themes that anyone, having super powers or not, can relate to. Episode 10 portrays depression and human insecurity better than I’ve seen in a long time.

Anime: Top 15

Things have changed since the last time I made a top anime list. The year of 2014 proved to hold some great titles, and combined with a good backlog, a greater number of newer anime forced itself onto my list. I even expanded it from top 10 to top 15 to make room for them all. So I’ve been working on this list for a while, and it’s finally ready to see the light of your monitor. Be aware that this list doesn’t include any films or OVAs. Behold, my 15 favourite anime!
