Free! Iwatobi Swim Club vs Free! Eternal Summer

I’m not that fond of making videos myself, but I just love writing the scripts for them, and it seems a waste to write them and then have them shelved in a folder of my laptop for all eternity. So here is a video I made about Free! The good news is, since the recording of this video I have gotten better at editing and I have learnt how to enhance audio and reduce background noise, which means that my next video will be of slightly better quality. Here’s to improving. Hope y’all enjoy or something.

How I feel about Phoenix Wright

Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 21.20.21

I played Phoenix Wright just last year, and I really enjoyed it. When I saw the anime coming out I was in disbelief: these games are old. Nevertheless, it excited me. Finally a show where I’m actually familiar with the source material.

Understanding Wolf’s Rain

“When the world ends, Paradise will open, but only the wolves know how to find it.”

Wolf's Rain (8)

So I’ve watched Wolf’s Rain three times now, and only on the last watch did I get a sense of understanding the story, at least a little. Perhaps I was too young, watching it first at fourteen, or too uneducated to see the images and metaphors and get the bigger picture. Perhaps I was too narrow-minded, seeing only the story as it was presented and dedicating my attention to the handsome characters, instead of looking for the deeper message. I took the anime for what it was, and never bothered to ask questions or make comments, because to me, at the time, it made perfectly sense. It strikes me as funny, that it never once occurred to me to ask: what was that all about?

Turning tsundere made me understand them.

Edit: I wrote this like a year ago, and it was supposed to go along with my OreImo review at the time. That review is long gone now, but I figured I could still make something out of my tsundere notes.

I’ve never been into tsundere characters. I’ve never understood the appeal of them. I know people, both online and in real life who adore them. But after watching OreImo, I just couldn’t relate. There’s nothing cute about this violent little girl with a bad mouth.

Characters in Guilty Crown are actually people

Screen Shot 2015-02-02 at 12.31.50

Please note that I haven’t finished watching Guilty Crown, and would appreciate it if spoilers beyond the halfway point were left out of this discussion. I will probably write another post on Guilty Crown once I do complete it.

Maybe I’m late to the party; 4 years late to be exact, but I’d still like to discuss Ouma Shu. I’ve been watching Guilty Crown (it’s taking me longer than I’d admit), and last night one specific episode resonated with me on a very emotional level. No, I didn’t cry, but for the first time I felt like I understood main character Shu, and the show. While the anime itself is within the action/sci-fi genre, I found certain themes that anyone, having super powers or not, can relate to. Episode 10 portrays depression and human insecurity better than I’ve seen in a long time.

Everything About Wolf Children That Brought Me To Tears

Wolf Children resonated really well with me. I can’t remember the last time a movie had me bawling my eyes out. By the way, there will be spoilers.
